Position: Artist/Designer
A major part of my job at Canalside Studios is to provide concept art for the projects, which is perhaps my favourite aspect of the job. On the 2D side of things I also handle producing textures for the 3D models and sprites for 2D sections. On the 3D side I am involved in some low poly modeling, texture mapping, rigging and animation (though Dave Connely usually handles most of this). Sculpting high detailed models from base models is also a big part of my job. Overall, being in a team of this size [8] means I perform a much larger variety of tasks, which is good even if my main ambition is to be a concept artist in the industry.
Skills
I have a wide range of skills in both 2D and 3D aspects of art production. My primary skill is digital painting, which lends itself to concept art/production painting and storyboarding. Secondary to painting, I can also design UI, model in both low and high poly and sculpt in zBrush. Other media skills I have include simple unwrapping, texturing, rigging and animation in 3D, some 2D animation ability and some film-related skills such as composition, action choreography and film editing.
