Biography

Name: Lap Pun Cheung
D.O.B: 26.10.1987
Location: Leeds, United Kingdom
I am an artist. I can’t really say games artist because I feel I could do work in comics, films or other areas but primarily I am a games artist at the moment. I love storytelling, but for me it’s through a visual medium, not that books are bad. In fact I love books, it’s just my literacy skills aren’t as good as my artistic skills so I try to develop stories in a visual format.
I spend most of my spare time drawing, playing games and watching films so I think it’s only natural that my two main passions would cross paths.
After spending a year at art college I decided that games development was the direction for me and enrolled on a games design course.
Currently I focus mainly on improving my digital painting skills, but I also develop other skills such as 3D modeling which may appear in my portfolio at some point.
Games:
I love games. Maybe almost as much as I love art. I have quite a lot of games but in this current generation of consoles I’ve played games from all three major platforms but the only one I play on lately is my ps3. I always think that you can tell what a person is like by what they play, which is why I’ve listed the games I own this generation!
Books & Films & Animations
Even though games are my main interest at the moment, that is partially because I want a career in games development! I love my films and books just as much if not more sometimes but there’s certainly far too many that I’ve seen or own to list here. I’d be writing a novel just on how many films I’ve seen. Also, I don’t read as many books as I’d like to at the moment, it’s very time-consuming, eats into my sleeping hours…
As a rule of thumb, I like most science fiction things, I’m not even sure why but I like them.
My favourites include: Blade Runner, Total Recall, Inception, The Fifth Element, The Matrix. Animation-wise I love Planetes, Macross Plus and Cowboy Bebop and I really enjoyed the Alastair Reynolds, Iain M Banks and Gibson books. Judging by that list of examples you pretty much say I’m very much into science fiction at the moment.
As for non-fiction, I can find most information I want on the net… but I collect a lot of art books for games and stuff. I like my Uncharted 2 Art book very much :3 (Now have the God of War art book too!) And Udon art books are pretty awesome too.
