2 0 1 0 – 3DTotal Forums June/July 2010 Challenge – Movie Mashup 4th Place Winner
4th! I’m quite proud of this achievement as it is a mixed medium contest where the digital painters compete alongside the 3D modellers and sculptors and so it was considerably more competitive than the other ones. I also like the image too as I think it reflects upon the original movies well. [Movie Mashup]
2 0 1 0 – 3DTotal Forums April 2010 Challenge – The Lost Jungle 3rd Place Winner
Yay, I came third in the digital painting [Tomb Raider] category of this competition. I like the piece I did for this one, and I’m rather proud of the fact I did it as I used to hate painting vegetation, but with this piece it’s encouraged me to learn to paint in new techniques with varying subject matter.
2 0 1 0 – 3DTotal Forums February 2010 Challenge – The Coming of the Ice 3rd Place Winner
Woo, my first prize of 2010. I came third in the digital painting [Abominable Snowman] category of this competition which is brilliant as this is my focus.
2 0 0 9 – Playstation Network: ‘Create an inFamous comic book’ Competition 1st Place Winner
A competition hosted by the EU Playstation site whereby the entrants had to complete a comic book page depicting a moral dilemma from the playstation 3 game, inFamous. I am extremely happy to have won this competition as it was judged by the developers of the game, Sucker Punch.
2 0 0 9 – University of Huddersfield Digital Media Award Best Second Year Team Project
This was a surprise victory for us. The project was the Imagine Cup entry, ‘.SiDIA’ which advanced through to the second round. They say the reason for our victory here was the fact that we designed and produced the game well, despite the unfinished product.
2 0 0 9 – x48 GameCamp Most Experimental Game
I believe this was the first event of it’s kind in the U.K. Our team was invited as one of the U.K teams from the Imagine Cup. This was a very fun event despite the lack of sleep, or not so in my case, according to my teammates lol. This was technically our second game, however it wasn’t exactly a completed one. It was called Chronofix. At the event, I think they called it the Most Innovative Award, but it’s been renamed on the site, so I’ve listed it as what they officially named it.
2 0 0 8 – London MCM Expo 1st Prize 16+ Artist Alley
A small art competition at the Expo sponsored by Sweatdrop Studios, Letraset and a couple of others. My first Expo, it was a good weekend. I drew a scene from an old story idea I had, the piece was entitled ‘Orc Hunt’.
2 0 0 8 – University of Huddersfield Digital Media Award Best First Year 3D Animation
My first year working in 3D animation, I was rubbish at the beginning of the year and actually hated it somewhat. But once I learnt the basics, I actually really enjoyed it. The animation that won this was a minute and half long fight scene. Looks awful when I look back at it but it was fun nonetheless. [note: the animation won't appear on this site because it looks poo compared to some of the other pieces of work I have done.]
